Montesilvano (Pescara): new skating track

We discover here the new skating track in Montesilvano (Pe), also built with PNRR funds, which hosted one of the World Skate Games 2024 competitions.

The WSG 2024, the world event of all roller sports disciplines, took place this year in Italy, from 6 to 22 September, in four different regions. In Montesilvano, the Track and Roller Derby competitions was scheduled to take place in the new skating track.

The ring-shaped skating track in Montesilvano consists of two identical parallel straights of the same length and two semicircular curves of the same diameter.

The curves are elevated at the outer edge and have a curvilinear profile with a parabolic law. The official length of the track is 200 metres; the width, measured in projection on the horizontal plane from the inner edge to the fence, is 5.75 metres.

The rink surface of was processed by applying a specific resin, a system approved since 2004 in Class 1 by World Skate. Due to its dimensions and characteristics, the rink is homologated for both national and international competitions.

Inside the track there is a multi-purpose court with tracks suitable for 5-a-side football, tennis and basketball as practice facilities, and suitable for artistic gymnastics with national homologation level.

In the north-eastern part of the skating track in Montesilvano is the grandstand/changing room block. For spectators, there are two fixed grandstands with 118 seats plus 5 for the disabled and 300 seats respectively.

In the area outside the new building is the ticket office as well as toilets for the public, and a prefabricated steel grandstand with an additional 604 seats.
