The works at the athletics stadium in Gallarate, in the province of Varese, covered an area of 26,300 square metres and lasted approximately one year.

In particular, it involved improvements to the 720-seat grandstands with a new transparent shell and 720 new seats in thermoplastic material, and the resurfacing of the 6-lane track in light blue with prefabricated rubber sports flooring.

The surface of the LND-approved central football pitch, also suitable for rugby, has already been redone in 2022 in synthetic turf.

With these works, Gallarate, after more than 30 years, can boast of having a new, high-performance athletics track: a necessary intervention, since the track was no longer usable for sports.

This work has led to the strengthening and improvement of the sports offer in the entire area in that this facility is the largest in terms of capacity and potential.

At the same time, in Gallarate, work is proceeding on the outdoor sports citadel with five-a-side football, basketball and clubhouse fields, as well as an eco-friendly play area. The cost for this citadel is about EUR 1.5 million, financed by the PNRR.

It is a comprehensive sports project: it will be built in two clusters, the first with a five-a-side football pitch, a basketball court, a clubhouse with changing rooms and a play area that will double as the Azalee park.

Work on Cluster 1 is currently in progress.
