The gymnasium of the Cittadella dello Sport in Tortona (Al)

The OMSI company has supplied all the recycled plastic seats in the sports palace of the Cittadella dello Sport in Tortona, in the province of Alessandria.

The sports complex incorporates sustainable practices in every aspect of its design and management, using recycled materials and cutting-edge environmentally friendly technologies.

The new sports area of approximately 68,000 square metres includes a multi-purpose gymnasium, a sports hall that can accommodate up to 5,000 spectators, several sports fields and new areas for recreation, leisure and culture.

One of the objectives of this important project is to become the first aggregation centre for the city of Tortona, but it is hoped that its strategic location near the A7 motorway will make it a pole of attraction for the surrounding urban areas as well.

The focal point of the Cittadella dello Sport will be the new arena intended mainly for Bertram Derthona basketball matches, but also for shows and concerts.

With a roofing diameter of about 80 m, it will become Derthona’s new headquarters, a two-storey building above ground with a training court, offices and the team’s meeting rooms.

OMSI supplied the seats for this arena in Tortona: 5,000 Caravaggio folding seats designed by Pininfarina and certified PSV (Plastica Seconda Vita). A model designed to offer spectators a solution focused on design, elegance and quality, resulting in an aesthetically harmonious product that is also extremely comfortable and functional.

Caravaggio features innovation, technological research and great attention to the environment, with a percentage of recycled material of 87% and a concrete application of circular economy, with a 43% reduction in the removal of raw materials from the environment.

In addition, seats for differently-abled people and 50 for the press – composed of a MP2024 model bench equipped with a Caravaggio in a fixed column – were provided.

Last September, a fierce match between Derthona Basket and Olimpia Milano gave rise to the inauguration of the gymnasium adjacent to the Tortona sports hall, where the 400 spectators were seated on Omsi seats, model M2016 General Public, a latest-generation tip-up that has the particular characteristic of having a depth, with the seat closed, of only 10 cm, a unique feature.
